"Saving the world one tree at a time"

Deforestation has risen 2.8% between 2018 and 2019 and continues rising as the years go on and especially in Brazil. Over 700,000 square kilometers have been destroyed since 1970 and the Amazon continues shrinking by 40% into 2023 at its current rate. Animals, indegoious peoples and air quality will all be affected being that Brazilian rainforests provide almost 20% of our oxygen and hold up to 3 million of our worlds species of animals. Without proper awareness and understanding of this dire situation, our trees will be gone.

ANIMALS IN DANGER:

Jaguar

Weighing around 250 pounds the Jaguar is one of the largest cats and is considered very scared by many indigous communities. According to the World Wildlife Fund there are only 15,000 jaguars in the wild left due to deforestation and hunting. According to the non-profit Orangutan conservancy, it is estimated that only 54,000 Bornean Orangutans and 6,600 Sumatran Orangutans remain in the wild. Deforestation is the number one threat to these creatures due to their habitats being destroyed for the construction of palm oil plants. Rainforest giant otters can often grow 1.7 metres long and can be found in waterways of the jungle.Dependent on both the land and the water for survival, the giant otters are rapidly dying off as a result of deforestation and water contamination.

We are a team of four who wanted to bring awareness about the issue of deforestation. We were all inspired by our own real-life experiences of the affects of deforestation and knew there were bigger issues. Deforestation affects both humans and animals, so we were inspired to make it more known to the world.
